I'm looking to buy a treadmill to tide me over for the winter. I've read several different review sites, but there is such a wide range of opinions on many treadmills. Can anyone comment on a good treadmill? I'm looking to spend no more than $500. I know what features make a treadmill better than another, so I guess I'm curious about personal experience. Any thoughts on NordicTrack, in particular the A2250? Thanks!

I have had bad experiences with poor treadmills. I am not at all prone to injuries, but several times while on business trips have gotten injured from poor treadmills. I have a Landice - highly ranked by many reviews. Any of their models are great- and have the same base construction. I feel the important aspect is reliability and more important - the ride you get. I suggest you try some like Landice or Precor and see how it feels in the store compared to your A2250. And give it enough of a try to be convinced you can get your runs in on it. I have had no problems with the Landice, but don't think you can get one in your price range.

    Good luck,

I suppose this won't be much help considering your price range but I had such a good experience with a True treadmill I have to say something.

I'm a a fairly novice runner and a pretty big guy (6'2", 249lbs) who has run off and on since high school.  My wife is much smaller @ 5'2" 120lbs and runs a lot.

8 years ago we  looked long and hard at treadmills primarily due to my size and bad knees and hips. We needed something that would last and could support me pounding away on it.

We really didn't want to spend much so I tried a lot of less expensive models. We ended up spending quite a bit more on a true light commercial model. That was after a LOT of test runs on various models. It's really basic (no longer made), no programming, you must manually adjust incline and speed but the ride for both of us the ride is great. It has well over 7K miles on it with not a single problem including the belt. It still shows no signs off giving up the ghost.

Back then it was ~$2300.00....But I think that it was worth every penny. A great investment. I guess it really depends on how many years you want out of it, what's comfortable for you and what you want to risk as far as potential injury.
