    Karen and Jacquie,

Send some of that rain this way.   The monsoon season is almost over normally starts in July by time is done with.  This year it is been a little longer which is great we need all the rain we can get here in AZ.

Did a spin class this morning and then a core workout.  Tomorrow I plan on swimming.

My butt hurts this morning and I struggled to run my usual 4 miles.  Finally completed it after 60 mins (too slow).  Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow.

Rode about 8 miles today at lunch - working on gettign my mileage up on bike, then my speed Smile

Went to the beach on Wed with my kids and dug sand for ever! Good arm work out. LOL

Had to go grocery shopping at lunch yesterday so only walked the store at a quick clip. I think my legs needed the break, as bikign today was good not tired to start with. Worked a little on my biceps with the Bowflex at home - have to figure out a strength training routine so i can do more than 1 set of just the biceps. Smile

Jacquie and Karen,  Yesrterday was also my rest day ended up going to gym during my lunch break.  I needed to get out of the office.  I have an employee that makes work stressful more then it should be.

Jacquie I see you enjoyed your rest day like I did - I bet you felt great the rest of the day.

Karen, you are doing great - going on a 8 mile bike ride in the middle of the day is wonderful.  When the weather gets cooler here in AZ - I am thinking of taking my bike to work so I can ride during lunch break and still work on my swimming in the morning.  Hey walking onthe beach is great workout on the legs - that is one thing I miss is the beach.  Karen walking to the grocery store is great - more people should do it instead of getting in the car - great thing for your health and also thinking green.

Today is Saturday since I am going to work decided to ride my bike so I can at least get a workout in.

Lydia and Karen - we gals seem to be coming on with our daily routine.  I like to read your postings very inspirational.  I went to GNC yesterday and took a weight check (did'nt like what it read) but that does not stop me because I feel great and know that I look great.

Ran 8 miles today.  The more I run the easier it get to complete my miles each week.  Plan on spending the rest of the day in bed watching the Olympics.

I also been watching the Olympics - currently am online watching live the Women's Triathlon.

Today I did an easy bike ride 29 miles.  The group I was riding with one of the riders could only go at a pace of 12 didn't want to leave her alone.

Also meet with one of my Tri members - who is the VP of the club and also a doctor.  Any he is helping me get to the next level.   Starting next week I will be swimming every day - also work in my run during the week, spin class and still do my long bike riding on the weekends.  Wednesday I need to show him my workout schedule.

I agree with Jacquie it is great being able to share my goals with two other individuals who have decided to make a change in their life like myself.

Work has been nuts this week - it's been hard to just be able to get coverage to take my lunch time. Still, when I had only 10 minutes for a ride - I pushed it to a "sprinty" 14 minutes ride (only shaved off 2 minutes, but done a LOT faster than I am used to). Really got the cardio going, howver, I am tired. My muscles now need a break.

I tried to take a day off on Tuesday, but it was cool and lovely coming home, so I was tempted into the pool (love it when it is warm (65) in the pool and cooler outside (lower 60's). I did 15 minutes there - only 30 lengths (40' each), but pretty good for me. So, which one of you tri's? Do I really need a wetsuit?

Karen,  I know what you mean about work being crazy.  You need your lunch break it helps with dealing with stress at work.  I should know because I am really bad at not taking my lunch - so now I just get myself out the door and head to the gym.

Today I meet up with the womens group I ride with did 34 miles on the bike.  We training for our next big ride EL Tour De Tucson.

    Karen and Lydia, Hi

Visiting my parents in Central Florida, since Thursday, ran with my sister for the first time and could not keep up with her.  I logged 5.15 miles on Friday and 7.8 miles today Saturday.  However, got hit with migraine after both runs - could not function for the rest of the day.

Lydia when is your next Tri?  I have been telling my friends and family about you gals.  I am so proud of us - yeah all of us!  Ran 5.20 today, which should have been my long run of 17 miles - could not deal with the humidity and was scared that my migraine would return.

Hi Jenn, nice of you to join our forum. Right now there are only three regular posters and we have been consistently motivating each other.  Karen and Lydia will log on before the end of the week.  Just keep posting whatever activity you feel contribute to staying healthy or in your case to lose weight.

Today is my final day in Florida, ran 5.2 miles.  To return to NY tomorrow morning and back to my usual routine.

P.S.  I had to copy this from another posting - a new user created a new "introduce yourself" and I got confused and posted there also.  I wrote a message that she should use this forum instead.  Hope she returns.

    Hi all!

Rode 4.5 today at lunch (23min) and walked .75 (12:55min). The weather channel said it was cool out, but boy was it humid and warm when I got out.

Needless to say if you have ever seen it( which you haven't yet), but I get bright fushia when I work out and it's hot out. Air conditioning feels so good when I come back into the office! LOL

I didn't do any formal workouts this weekend, but had a massive playdate for my daughter and got a home freezer/food order in - so lots of standing/walking on the first thing and a good amount of heavy lifting and rapid putting away for the second.

I am looking forward to next season when I will (yes that is said with extreme determination!)be ready to do a sprint tri. I'm thinking of putting on my own "mini" sprint - kind of brick training with all three combined, but a 1/4 or so of the sprint distance, just to get the feel of putting it all together. Is that a nutty idea or does that make sense?

So - what about wetsuits - either of you own one for open water swimming? Buoyancy is the main thing I keep hearing about, but I'm pretty buoyant.

  10.
    ericjacquie

I do not own any wet suits.  Returned to NY finally and ran 7.03 miles this morning.

    Hello Jacquie,

Sorry for the delay in responding you your question.  It has been crazy at work with deadlines for the class starting on the 2nd September.

My next Tri is on the 14th September.  Because of work I missed 4 days of workout - so much stress.  Anyway I started a Tri class today at the local community college - a class my husband has taken twice plus many of friends.  I rode my bike to the class for short ride of 12 miles round trip.  We did some swimming which I didn't do so well.  I called my son at school and told him how upset I was about my swimming.  He said to me "mom you will get better - at least you are doing something to stay healthy which many people don't do"  I guess I just needed to hear does words from my son.

Today I went a group bike ride for total 24 miles.  The ride went well and I was feeling great during the ride and afterward - when I got home within a hour I starting to feel tried and a fever came on.  My husband and me were planning to a movie and dinner tonight for our 24th Wedding Anniversray.  Since we both of have the day off tomorrow we decided to go out tomorrow instead.

Nice to hear from you Lydia happy anniversary.  You have been married twice the years I have.  Your son is sweet.  Did'nt work out at all yesterday - spent half of the day in my running clothes but just did not get out of the house.  Got up at 5.45 am this morning and  ran 14.7 miles.

That's great encouragement from your son!

Work has been nuts, but I have been pretty diligent on biking or walking at lunch - trying to gradually increase my miles biked to be able to ride from my daughter's/son's daycare to work instead of taking the car. It's only 6 miles, but I have to get my speed up so I am not late/look totally wiped out/expire on the side of the road. Laughing

I had tried jumping the distance quickly, but everthing I've read says to increase by 10%, so.... Now at least I do not feel wiped out the next day too.

Tried swimming this weekend - too cold - only 3 laps @ 61degrees!

Continued with my usual training.  Completed over 40 miles this week.  Friday was my rest day - but I could not stay away from the gym.  Worked on my upper body a bit longer than usual and I have been sore the entire weekend.

Feel much better - definately a cold and compounded by allergies (have them year round). Also switching allergiy meds, so???

Still - got out to walk yesterday and got hit with rain mid lap at work, so inished the one lap inside. A freind of mine came back to work after being out on leave for a few months. She and I help keep ourselves moving, so I am glad to have a workout busddy back. She plans on bringing her bike so we can take rides. I find I like solitary exercise for meditation, but having a conversation at the same time makes the time FLY!

Jacquie - hope all turns out well with your knee! & congrats on the race - I am pretty sure I would not have been able to do it with a cold - never mind the not really running yet bit. Wink

    Jacquie,

WOW!! You are doing so great with the running.  Maybe that is what I need to do speak to my knee - last night the knee keep me awake.   After dropping my husband off at the Guard unit this morning. I meet up with classmate from the Tri Class.  We did a short ride of 20 miles with took 1hr and 21mins.  This is the first time riding together it work out great since we are the same speed.  I am not sure if I mentioned that I designed the jersey and shorts for the group I ride with on Saturday’s.  We call ourselves “The Ladies”
