    Hi

Just wondering if you can transfer maps from a Garmin 405 onto mapmyrun.

I know you can for 305 but havent seen anything to suggest for the 405 & I know that since it hasnt been out for all that long perhaps the site hasn't caught up yet... but if I'm wrong and can do it now I'd really love the hear about how :)

I haven't successfully directly transfered maps from the watch to mapmayrun.  It sees the watch in the garmin communicator, but stays at 0% for transferred.  I think that is due to the watch being wirelessly connected to the computer.

I made a file conversion tool though to make it possible for me.  If you export your run from Garmin Training Center into a .tcx file...you can use my tool if you like:

     www.michaelrenz.com/tcx/

You simply upload the file, and it'll create a .gpx that mapmyrun can import, and will auto-prompt you to save the file.  I don't mind if others use this while mapmyrun figures out how to make it work automatically.  :)

Thank you so much... I just thought I'd check back in to see if there was a resonse and there you are!

Now I just need to work out what to do with the .gpx files - I'm rather technologically challenged!

I'm really glad to have found this thread....I'm looking for reasons to avoid buying a 405 and fate is just telling me to part with my money!  Now I know I can sync with MMR, I don't have much choice but to buy one Laughing

Hey Mike.  Thanks a lot for your converter.  Although I have had problems with it the last couple of days.  I try to load up a run and it has problems reaching your website.  Is there any word on when MMR do this work for you?

Hey, is there a size limit on the file that you can convert with this?  I have noticed that some converters have a limit of 1.5 MB.  I have a file that is 1.53 MB.  Not even sure how to make it smaller.  Not run as far I suppose.

I just got my 405 last week and have already downloaded several courses into the unit from MMR without a converter. You just pull up whatever course you want to load, go to "Save," choose "Save to Garmin / CRS," which will bring up an "Exporting you Route" screen on the left side window. Select "Garmin Course File (CRS/TCX)." Now, I have not tried to use the CRS option, but the TCX works just fine. Save the file to a location on your hard drive that you can find, and then go into the Garmin Trainng Center and go to (select) File/Import/Courses... and then just select the file and click "Open."

Now it's in your Garmin Trining Center, and you can send it to your device just by clicking on the button.

Going the other way? I'd love to be able to send my history to MMR, but haven't figured that our yet. Any help would be great! Probably should start another thread for that one.

Hi everybody. I am a Mac user and am stumbling a bumbling my way through the one PC in my office where I have downloaded all my 405 data.

I am desperatley and much to my staffs annoyance trying to convert the TCX files into format that MMR can upload.

I have tried  www.michaelrenz.com/tcx/  but the browser pops up a page not found warning after i press submit on that site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hey all!

Now that the Michaelrenz site seems to have crapped itself I have no way of converting my files... has anyone by chance uncovered any alternative methods? It would be really nice to share my maps with my mates!
