Cycling Gear: Problem with uploading routes from Garmin Etrex Legend

I have an older Garmin Etrex Legend handheld GPS device.  It has performed reliably when uploading my rides to the www.motionbased.com site however for some reason when I try to upload the routes onto the MMR site it separates the one route into a series of smaller routes

I have no idea why it does this and if it was just a matter of combining all the shorter routes to make one complete route, I guess I could live with that, but I don't even know how to do this.

 Anyone having a similar problem with an older, non-Edge, GPS device???
