    Hi,

I'm new to running (well, new to paying attention to my running and racing) and I did my second ever 5K this past weekend in 34:16.  Not the greatest time, but it was 2 minutes  better than my pre-baby time!  I've signed up for another 5K in mid-October and one mid-Nov.  Is it reasonable to think that I can shave 4 minutes off by Oct and maybe get close to 25 minutes by Nov?  At the moment I teach middle school full time and have a 17 month old, so all of my running will likely be at about 4:30 in the morning!

    Thanks for any help

    Lis

it is possible. esspecially since your body has been changing so much. if you provide it with stable training you should be pleasnetly suprised. thats for october. 25 min by next summer is more realistic but were all different.

Without particularly dedicated training I went from 11 minute to 8 minute miles for a 5K in about 5 months. I'm hoping to just about break the 8 minute mark with my last 5K of the season in October. I've also worked on adding some distance and hope to run a half marathon in November (not at an 8 minute pace of course).

I'm the same way.  I best time on a hilly 5K is 27:54 but I have my first flat 5K scheduled in Nov. and I shooting for sub 22.  I know I can pace 8 mins on a hilly course but I don't know if that relates to 7 mins on flat.  I think it's possible.
