I have been running for a few years but have been slacking the last year.  I started on an easy training program.  I haven't had any issues other than shin splints when I first started.

Tonight while on a regular run on my usual route I started to experience pain in my calf muscle.  I thought it was just a cramp and kept going.  My new program is a run 10 walk 1.  When I walked, I found it hard. It actually eased up when I started running again.

The pain is in the middle of my calf from just above the heel to below my knee (not in my knee).  It hurts when I put pressure on it, or push off to walk on my foot. It doesn't hurt to stand on the leg.

I have been fitted for my sneakers.   I tend to run more on the outside of my feet.  I don't have flat arches.

I have read about achilles tendonitis and some of the symptoms fit but I am not sure.

I have been icing and elevating since I got home.

Just wondering if there is anything else I should do.
