What To Do

I agree with everyone here that says to go to a good running store.  Well, as the first step at lest.

Once you get yourself into a good running store make sure you talk to someone who knows what they are talking about.  And yes most good running stores have people that know what they are talking about working in them, most of the time, but if you are new to running they should ask lots of questions.

Here are some things the “the shoe guy” should ask or ascertain

    1. How much running experience you have
    2. How many miles you run
    3. What type of running you do
    4. What type of surface you run on
    5. What type of injuries you are prone to
    6. How big you are
They should want to analyze your gait and arch.  This means you will either get your feet wet or walk on an electronic analyzer to determine your arch.  You should probably expect to run on a tread mill for the gander at your gait and foot strike.

When you go to the store wear comfy close or even better your normal running attire, especially the socks. The ultimate test of a shoe is how it runs over miles.

Roadrunner sports lets you wear them for 30 or 60 days to ensure you like them if not they will get you into a different pair at no charge.  That’s a great deal if you are unsure about what you need.

Once you find the shoe of your dreams you can price shop on line or what have you.

Beware, when they change color it usually means they are changing from one model year to the next, yep just like a car, and sometimes things other than the color change as well.

Right now I am wearing Asics Gel-Kayano 14s.  I have worn Kayanos for years but when they went to 10s something in them change and I had to switch to Brooks (infinity I think) but the14s seem to have changed back to a better shoe for me again.

I look forward to hearing others experience and hope this helps folks new to the picking the perfect pair.

    Peace
