Help!: cannot even plot a route

i just registered and tried to plot a route however it would not let me. i checke dout all of the categories on 'help' and nothing helped me at all. do you know the reason for this? i can't put ANY point on the map, and the miles don't change no matter where i click - they stay at zero.
