Scenic route to include some of the Clarksville Half-marathon's course. The stretch on highway 79 has about a 3 foot shoulder, and people were whipping by pretty good. The big trucks come pretty close, so be prepared to get off into the grass if necessary. The stretch on Rossview road is also somewhat dangerous not really having a shoulder at all. Always run facing the traffic unless going up a hill, then cross over and go with the traffic as long as no one is coming. The rest is very peaceful and scenic!

http://www.mapmyfitness.com/route/united-states/az/prescott/630125952350999269

A long run on Mingus Mountain. A combination of trails and forest roads. Most of this route is the upper portion of the Man versus Horse 50. The route sequence is as follows. Start near Jct of FR304 and FR 413, plenty of places to pull off. Take FR413 to TR28, descend into Yeager Canyon. Turn onto TR 533 and climb, long but mellow. At top turn left onto FR105 and descend to Mingus Springs. Here you will be on private property, use you judgement. Just before you reach the second gate turn left on old road, it is confusing in here and my only advice is to trend right at junctions. You should be on TR539 on the SE side of Kendall Peak. Turn left on FR132 and at the 4th jct to the right turn the track is faint but will take you to FR413. On FR413 turn right and follow for 9 miles. Turn onto TR106 and climb back to the top of Mingus. Turn left and climb toward the campground. Turn onto TR9037 follow briefly then look for the faint track leading NW. It is confusing in here but as long as you trend to the NW you will come to TR110. Follow TR110 to its jct with TR9003N, an old road, turn right and follow back to FR104, its only a few tenths of a mile back to the jct with FR413.

I have marked this route as dangerous because of the traffic and the risk of injury due to uneven terrain on the shoulder if you are not careful. It's a good route for an out and back, but it does offer its challenges.

I call it the La Platte Half Marathon because....well its 13 miles long. After the start the next 3 miles are nothing but hills. Better be used to hill running before trying this one. After 3 miles, the run from Chris Lake to La Platte is relatively flat. Hit the turn around at the 6.5 mark (It's right beside a building that says "Fast Greens" on it..can't miss it). Only problem with course is those first three miles of hills at the start of the run are now your last three miles at the end of the run. They are also steeper and longer on the way back. Have fun...lol.
