http://www.mapmyfitness.com/route/united-states/va/dayton/843125915992799457

This fast finish 1/2 marathon run begins in Montezuma VA, about 3 miles west of Dayton, just off route 257. Park at the Montezuma Civic Center and beginning running north on McNett Dr.

The barking dogs that live on McNett Dr. can be sedated with dog treats. The traffic is generally light, but cars sometimes zip by on Dry River Road and Hinton Road. If the horse and buggy's are out, especially on Sunday mornings, watch where you step.

The combined out & back, loop course sets up for a fast finish. The course gradually climbs until it peaks at the 6.3 mile mark. The steepest incline (3% grade) begins at the 5.4 mile mark and continues for about .2 miles. Other inclines are in the 1% to 2% grade range. From there, the course rolls slightly until mile 7.75, where the steady 1% downgrade begins. The last mile is flat. Runners who comfortably reach the peak elevation will be pleased with how fast they can finish this run! Honey Run Road is pack gravel, rural, quiet and fast.

Slowfox would love to host a small time race on this route.

http://www.mapmyfitness.com/route/united-states/ca/san-francisco/130125911354987510

This is the unofficial racecourse for the DSE Runners' 2009 Double Lake Merced 9 mile course, held on Sun Nov 22, in San Francisco, CA.

The course consists of two clockwise loops around Lake Merced. There was a 4.5 mile "Single" loop run held simultaneously beginning and ending at the same place. The race is entirely on the paved bike/walking path along the lake.

There are several advantages to this course. It is on a self-contained path, so route confusion is practically non-existent and is a very safe run with only a few traffic crossings a parking lot entrances. It is flat, at least by San Francisco standards, with very gentle uphills and downhills. I would venture to say that the mapmyrun elevation profile even overstates the elevation change.

Trackpoints were downloaded from my Garmin Forerunner and are as accurate as can be expected. I was a participant in the race and am not affiliated with its organizers or sponsors.

This marathon starts and finishes in charming historic downtown Richmond, once the capital of the south. The scenic, fast loop course takes in all of the city's old neighborhoods, traveling up Monument Avenue, past statues of Confederate soldiers and Richmond native and tennis star Arthur Ashe, through the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University, then alongside the James River. Along with the typical water and sports drink stops, this is probably the only race in the country that offers junk food stops, at miles 16 and 22, stocked with Gummy Bears, cookies, and soda. There are also two wet-washcloth stations, at miles 17 and 23, perfect for cleaning up for your finish-line photo. Three party zones set up along the way with free food, prize giveaways, and noisemakers for spectators and family means lots of enthusiastic, cheering support. The last mile features a fast downhill to the finish in the trendy Shockoe Slip area, where there are plenty of postrace goodies, including bagels, fruit, and pizza, and a band to celebrate your finish.

This was a really cool idea for a run that I finally got to doing. It is a perimiter of Northboro. The run never leaves the town but stays as close to the edge of it as roads will allow. Except for getting to and from my house, the route never backtracks. I would recomend running the route so as to go up Ball Hill and down Green Street as I found from experience that doing the opposite is extremely difficult, especially towards the end of the run.
