I got into cycling when chemo damaged my lungs and I could no longer run. But, during my chemo battles, I read Lance's book and watch the Tour De France. I figured if Lance could do it, I could ride. I am old and out of shape now, but I never surrender. It must be one of my Army traits. I love the Tour it represents victory over cancer...and the ride back to life.

For over 40 years I took my good health for grant it. I was an Army Officer and I did PT every day with my soldiers. That physical fitness carried over back into civilian life. Then one day during a lunchtime jog I heard wheezing in my chest. It was lymphoma. Luckily, my healthy life style gave me an advantage in my cancer battles. Now, I am not able to run, which I loved..but I found cycling is even better. I get to see things I never would have simply jogging. Plus, cyclists are some of the coolest people
