Profile

I ran a lot back in the day, then my knees hurt, so I spent ~10 years rehabbing them on the bike. Now I'm running again, and despite not doing it as much as I used to, I'm faster and stronger now. Who knew?

Gear

Just go to a bike shop. Look around. I probably have what you're looking at. Except for: a BMX bike; a full suspension bomber; a hybrid; a recumbant.

Racing Highlights:

College - not so good; ate a lot of Pop-tarts, bagels and oatmeal which hindered my training; also rode in vans for 9 hours the night before races testing the limits of my bladder and lower back flexibility. 2003 - was a cat 4. Raced a lot. Did pretty well. No wins, but had fun. 2004-2006 - first few years as a cat 3 kinda sucked. Getting hit by a car didn't help. In August of 2006 I rode up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire faster than most of the other people who showed up that day, including everyone in my category. 2007-2008 - nothing was really as good as MW, so I progressively got skinnier, and yes, stronger, and had some results I was proud of, but ultimately road racing became more of an obligation than a joy, so I started racing cross and liked that a lot. 2009 and beyond - focusing on running, mountain biking, and cyclocross from here on out. The road is smooth and my bike travels over it with very little resistance, so I'll still use it for commuting and enjoyment. Maybe come mid-summer even an interval or two to prep for cross.
