I have been experiencing a bruised type pain at the top of the heel just where the achilles tendon meets it. This seems to get worse when I am doing a run. Any similar experiences.

How long has it been going on?  If not very long, it could just be tendonitis.  If there is any "creeking" with flexion and extension of the ankle, it could be a little worse..."tenosynovitis"  Inflamation of the tendon sheath.  That is a little worse to fix.

Depending on your age, if you are a little older, get it checked out by an orthopedic surgeon.  You certainly don't  want to end up with an achilles rupture.

    good luck

I don't have that experience, but I do have a heel spur and can relate to that pain.  When it is raining or cold (or both combined) my foot kills me.  I find that I can't do much physical activity that day.  I am not a runner, but am working my way up to doing more physical activity.  Running is too hard on my ankle (arthritus too) and heel spur.
