Congratulations on stepping up to the challenge!  We will all attempt to successfully run 26 times in the next 30 days, November 1-30.  This is not a contest or a race.  This is a group that will encourage and support each other in achieving this goal.  We will be acountable to each other, hence creating new power in our motivation to get out that door and run.

This will be a forum of sharing fitness/running ideas, questions, knowledge, struggles, challenges, victories, acomplishments and a unique way of getting to know each other better.

TBD are any cool/fun events we may want to wrap aound this.  Ideas so far are; a kick off group run the morning of Nov 1 followed by breakfast, a ending event of some kind, and 1 or 2 designated group races.  We have time so please please post your ideas of how you think this could be made even more cool, motivating and fun for all of us.

There are some of us in this group who do not know each other yet (which I think is especially cool) so insert picture, FIRST NAME and a tidbit of yourself in your "My Profile" above and in your opening posts share more and provide links to personal blogs, facebooks, websites or whatever.

I'm excited to have you all aboard!  SO LETS RUN!!!

    Godspeed, Marvin

    Hey Marvin-

I haven't seen you in forever. But I am going to give this a shot so I can finally get back into race shape.

Postponed my 50 miler this year due to lack of training time. To give you an idea of my stress recently, I've even developed a little bald spot on the back of my head!

Enough already-back to running. Thanks for making me step up.

First Mark, so great to hear from you,  your babie must be what 3 now?  How are you doing?  I moved from Arcadia to Monrovia in March so that is why we do not run into each other on the Rio Hondo any more in the mornings because i do my AM interval work on the Sante Fe dam now.  But I expect to have some runs together!

Manny, miss you too. since you are a Ultra, your minimums are double! :) see you soon.

Must be nice to live in California; It's always my intention to run 5 or 6 times a week, but it will proabaly p**s down with rain at least 26 days out of 30 during November here in the UK- and when it rains here- it rains.

Still , musn't be too negative - good luck with your challenge, mine is to always acheive at least 120 miles a month; I have to take the opportunity to do decent distances whenever the window in the weather allows it.

I'm in too. Although I'm a 26/30 veteran, I haven't been running much recently. This is the motivation I've been looking for -- thanks for organizing, Marvin!

I'll be running from Vancouver, so there will be plenty of rain running here too.

I see you are still real fluent in English since moving back to your homecountry.  So great for you to join us esp from so far away.  Wow you see my friend Eunice (enisquesnackgirl) she has just moved to Vancover last month also!  She told me she is disapointed from the less friendlier on the road running peeps up there.  Eunice sound off! say hi.

Thanks for the invite, Sis. I'll be joining this group from the eastbay, Albany. My first requirement for end of year running is growing a beard. And then if I can just find my gloves and light and get out of the house before the baby girl wakes up, all will be good.

    Hey Marvin,

<>Sue told me about this challenge - thanks for organizing it.  I have a question: Does indoor running (treadmill) and elliptical machines count?

    <><><>Thanks!  powwow

    Powwow,

you go by Powwow or Powtawche?  Treadmill running is definatly ok.  If elliptical is something you need to do for injury or PT purposes instead of running then fine but if you are healthy and safely able I encourage you to run.  ellipse is kind of a hybrid of the running/cycling motion and we are not counting the cycling sessions that some of the triathletes are still trying to squeeze into their week.  its up to you, regardless we are excited to have you on board and look forward to meeting you soon.

Ya know I've been checking this thread for almost a month, and here it is in the early hours of October 31st.  I guess that means it's about time to suit up or shut up...that being said, I'm In.  I'm joining this challenge from Nacogdoches TX and I wish the best to eveyone.  I encourage everyone here to do their best, be sensible and stay injury free!

Hey Marvin, You knew exactly what I needed to get back into the "race of life". John Bingham says, "The miracle is not so much that I finished...the miracle is that I had the courage to begin." Count me in! Thank you, Marvin, for creating a safe place for me to begin...again. Blessings and encouragement! Gary Purtee P.S. I will continue to work on my profile.

Howdy! It's about time I did something like this and maybe being held accountable to everyone will keep me going. I live in Fla and gotta go to Ky for Thanksgiving. That's going to be the tough part. I usually go to a great spin class for that week, something I don't have here, instead of running in the cold. Maybe that'll be my 4 days off, or hey, maybe I'll do both on those days! I just lost 10 pounds and would love a T-day week at Moms with no weight gain, perfect timing. Looking foreword to hearing how everyone else is doing. Thanks for the challenge, Margo.

Hi everyone! I think I officially asked to join this group...but it was on another thread? Off to an okay start (for me anyway). Ran 3.5 on Nov. 1, 4 on Nov. 2, 2 on Nov. 3. Not sure what I will do today. I am a bit fatigued, as I ran every day last week leading up to the challenge. But hopefully I will adjust and get in a longer run.

Margo, you and I have similar goals! I lost  bunch of weight via running and eating well this summer/fall and want to continue on that path through the holidays. I'm not traveling anywhere, but have a bunch of relatives coming into Seattle for T-Day. I have a pair of skinny jeans sitting in my closet that don't quite fit yet. I want to wear them by T-Day week Laughing

    Good luck to all!

Hello, my name is Charlie and I'm very much like Ingrid where I would keep my distances to about 2-5 miles.   I think I'm keeping up so far as I only missed this past Saturday.  On Saturdays due to my leg workouts on those days so I should be able to go along with this challenge. This is a great motivator!

Okay, I think I joined the group. Here's my update. I took my first day off in the challenge yesterday (Wednesday). I wasn't planning on it, but wasn't feeling well. No worries though, I will still get 26 days in! It's nice to be held accountable. Tonight I will do one of my 3.5 mile routes...and give myself the option to go longer, depending on how I feel.

Does anyone know where to get the best deals for night running gear? I used to be content with just my reflector vest and a flashing light attached to my dog, since the sidewalks in my area are pretty safe. However, I do get quite blinded when a car is coming toward me. I'm looking for a possible running light? So I can see the ground better, and a new reflector vest for me and for my dog. Thanks!
