The area is pretty congested, but when you start climbing into La Jolla it clears out a bit. I did a little excursion down and back up Soledad Mtn. road for the hill work, but you can easily skip it and just do the loop. The climbing on this ride is not overly long, but man are they steep. Be careful coming down Hidden valley road, as it is very easy to hit 40 mph (25 mph zone) and there are some blind corners and a bad placed stop sign.
