Enjoy the long downhill to Hwy 79 at Cuyamaca Lake. Turn left on 79 and continue until Old Hwy 80 and turn left. Climb the short hill to Guatay then it's a fast downhill and flat ride back to the start. There are stores at the top of Laguna and at the lake to refuel if needed. Riding back was mostly downhill but with a headwind. It had nice scenery. I saw horses, sheep, cattle and even couple camels on the way. This was my longest ride ever. I started at 9 am and got back at 5pm. Before leaving, I had 3 eggs, tea with lots of sugar, and a banana. I was planning to reach Julian to have my lunch. However, when I reached Julian, I could not leave my new expensive bike outside to enter restaurants! It was a crowded little city full of bikers (not cyclists. Those with tatoes). None of the restaurants would allow me to have my bike with me in the restaurant. Even though I expected this, I did not carry enough to eat. It was my fault. When I reached Julian, after long climbs, I could feel my muscles cramp. Fortunately, shortly on my way back from Julian, I run into a guy who was selling apples and water on the side of the road. I got 3 apples and 4 water bottles, stretched my legs a bit and started downhill. The ride back was a little painful. I had to stop quite often to release my leg muscles from the cramp.
