I rode on the last day of my challenge but I entered it the day after this challenge ended for me and it didn't count towards my goal. Is there any way too fix this? Kinda lame I went 460 something miles and it only show's it as 447.

cjespinoza - I don't know of any good books for training for a century but if you can do this challenge in three weeks then I don't see you having a problem. I practice for my century rides doing lots of 25-35 mile routes as I aim for the next potty break. I don't like doing long training rides as it is impossible to avoid traffic here in NY. It works for me, may not work for everyone. Good luck

After being lazy and not cycling to where I was doing a training course, I am back on the bike in the mornings. I have noticed a drop in temperatures, darker starts and a lower sun. I don't think the clocks are going to go back son enough. I have missed out on this goal but will start again as soon as the 30 days clock over. Third time lucky, I hope.

I am just getting into riding and I am loving it. I am pretty much addicted. I love riding both on bike paths and roads. The weather is changing here a bit and that is nice for the morning rides. I am well on my way to getting to 450 by the middle of this week and that is a week ahead of schedule. Quick question, does anybody know of a good book for helping to create a training plan for a century ride? I ddidnt give myself much time, but I am doing one in October.

Just started the 450 mile goal Friday 8/21/09 after a short break of about 3 weeks (been sick and then on travel for work) boy did i feel it on the frist two days of riding. 90+ degrees with humity in the 80% both days and this is not an easy 30 mile ride with many rolling hills. I thought I would be forced to take today off with Hurricane Bill but it missed us on the east coast.

DONE! The last 60 miles were a struggle. Helping a friend move, and then severe thunderstorms...I didn't get to ride for 5 days :( But tonight after work I just went out and rode until I lost sunlight. Good luck to the rest of you.

Hey I'll be up in your neck of the woods in a few weeks, and then again in September. My grandparent's have a farm over in Rio, WI, so I'll stop by and spend a day or two with them on my way up to the UP.
I had a heck of a week riding. I did 30 miles of 5% hills on Saturday, and then 50 miles of the same hills on Sunday. Time to rest for a day.

Glad to see you are enjoying the challenge, drfergus.
I had a bad week cycling-wise. Had a honeymoon last weekend and was preoccupied. ;-) I seemed to have contracted some sort of cold bug in Manhattan and despite, or maybe because of, doing a ride Tuesday morning, I was laid low for rest of week with a high temp. I'll be out again tomorrow but I don't think I'll make the 450 miles in the 30 days. Will just have to start again on Day 31. :)

Hope every one is having fun in this challenge. I know I am. Just got done with a 20 mile ride looking into the sun set. Plotting out a 30 mile for tomorrow (rain or shine!), and possibly a 60 mile for Sunday. Have a great week end.
