Profile

Retired USAF after 26 years, have been cycling since late 2004 after a co-worker convinced me it was a good idea to ride across the NW Australian Desert, which is the Northwest Cape of Western Australia...at first I was skeptical, but I learned to love it! Thanks to Mike Ellis for his inspiration. At first I had to ride only half of the 22 miles (one way only)...but eventually I worked my way up, became addicted and before I left Australia was able to handle longer distances such as Exmouth to Coral Bay (95 miles). I rode in my first race, el Tour de Tucson shortly after my retirement with a goal of under six hours for the 109 mile race...I cramped a bit towards the end, and wound up with a time of 6 hours and 6 minutes...just missing my goal. I learned a lot during that race and will do much better next time out. Since I have done mostly club rides, charity events and other events around the NE part of the US after returning home. In addition, I have visited many places in the US and of course traveled with my bike. I have three Cannondales, my first being the Badboy Ultra, then the Ironman800 and finally my Six13. My only regret is that I didn't start cycling when I was 10 or so!
