Clifton - Leigh Woods - Ashton Court Loop
Mainly off-road or quiet roads, Scenic, undulating. My favourite route whatever the weather. Best done early morning to avoid crowds on the Bridge. Start from Christ Church and head across Clifton Suspension Bridge (views) then North Road (view along Avon Gorge at left bend) and then enter Leigh Woods. Follow Blue Route (cycle route) but then cut on to Purple Route past Iron Age Fort. Follow track towards Paradise Bottom (glorious forest scenery year-round) and at Leigh Court turn left towards Abbots Leigh. At A369, cross road and go left. In 200 m turn right up Sandy Lane and then take track to Abbots Pool (pretty). Turn right at roadway (through rural Somerset scenery) and then follow road up the hill. to cross roads with Beggar Bush Lane. Straight on, then enter Ashton Court via track through the woods (look out for deer). Emerge on to golf course (views over south Bristol on right) and join road to Leigh Woods exit. Return across Suspension Bridge. - a 8.8 mi running route in Bristol, the United Kingdom
